Godelia Selección Mencía
The interpretation of a great Mencía in the Camino de Santiago. Only a few are part of the elite.
A wine that is born from a very high standard selection of grapes from hundred-year-old vines in our plots and estates at higher altitudes, on steep slopes and facing south in slate soils. It is our most select Mencía, with a wonderful balance of fruit, terroir, and oak. It is only made those years in which we feel we have grapes magical enough for it. A unique production with the body and soul of El Bierzo.
To be enjoyed without haste.
Strict and meticulous selection of the grapes in the vineyard. Manual harvest in 15 kg boxes. Thermal treatment of the grapes during the process at 10ºC. Double manual sorting table: bunches and berries. Gentle de-stemming and vinification in 400 l new French oak barrels. Extraction of phenolic compounds by pigeage (cap immersion). Maceration with the skins 20 to 30 days. Malolactic fermentation in barrel.
16 month crianza aged in 400 litre new French oak barrels.
