WINE TOURISM

In an increasingly virtual world, coming into direct contact with the natural environment around us takes on greater meaning and value.

At Godelia we feel very fortunate to work land as beautiful as El Bierzo’s. We would like you to be able to see our work first-hand with activities that combine nature and the exciting world of wine. We believe that the best way to learn is through experience. And we are convinced that the more you know about wine, the better each glass tastes.

Doña Blanca
Experience

DURATION approx.45 mins.

The Doña Blanca grape is the variety with the smallest production area in El Bierzo, so we have chosen it to name our introductory visit, in which we include:

Guided tour of the winery: Someone from our team will show you around the facilities and how we make our wines.

Tasting of three wines: You will be able to familiarise yourself with our native grape varieties (Mencía, Godello, and Doña Blanca).

Price: €15/person.

Godello Experience

DURATION approx. 1hr.

The Godello grape, although it has been expanding at a dizzying pace in recent years, is the second most widely planted grape in El Bierzo, although it is just as well known and recognised as the Mencía. That is why we have named our introductory + visit after it.

Guided tour of the winery: Someone from our team will show you around the facilities and how we make our wines.

Tasting of five wines: You will be able to familiarise yourself with our native grape varieties (Mencía, Godello, and Doña Blanca). You will also get to taste the wines we make from our most unique vineyards and limited productions.

Price: €25/person.

Mencía Experience

DURATION approx. 2 ½ hr.

The Mencía grape is the queen of El Bierzo, the best known variety (no offense, Godello) and the most widely planted in the El Bierzo region. It is also the variety we find in our hundred-year-old vineyards and that is why we wanted to name our most special visit after it.

Visit a vineyard: We believe that wine is made in the vineyard, so we start our visit in our vineyards, where you can learn how we work with our greatest treasure, the grape.

Guided tour of the winery: Someone from our team will show you around the facilities and how we make our wines.
Tasting of five wines: You will be able to familiarise yourself with our native grape varieties (Mencía, Godello, and Doña Blanca). You will also get to taste the wines we make from our most unique vineyards and limited productions with a perfectly paired snack.

El Bierzo

El Bierzo is a “coupage” of the roads, landscapes, and cultures that traverse Northwest Spain. Gateway to Galicia and the most western part of Asturias, it is a unique region due to its climate and orographic conditions, ideal for agriculture and all kinds of outdoor activities.

In addition, in El Bierzo there are unique treasures like a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site. Las Médulas, a unique Roman gold mine, which when abandoned and subjected to erosion resulted in a beautiful canvas of vegetation and clay with unique contrasts and memorable sunsets. Another of the attractions of this beautiful region is the Camino de Santiago, which passes right by our winery and vineyards. The so-called Main Street of Europe is a road that has been travelled for over a thousand years by pilgrims from all over the world, which crosses El Bierzo from east to west and offers visitors a sensory combination of colour-tasting that varies with each season.

Getting to know this rich land and all its heritage, be it cultural, natural, or related to its landscape, helps us to understand the incredible conditions for the production of these very special wines.
